French Kitchenware and Cookware From France

The French are renowned for their ability in the kitchen and cooking is embedded into their culture more so than any other country on the planet.

Their style is far less spicy than eastern cuisine and generally considered to be very refined and stylish. This type of cuisine has been part of the French way of life ever since the revolution. French cookware is therefore styled to match and is often rustic and simplistic in accordance with their style of cooking. In general, the French avoid complex equipment and opt for a selection of spoons, knives and spatulas instead, employing their renowned technique and savoir-faire to produce excellent dishes.

There are likely to be more hand utensils in a French kitchen and those that differ from any other kitchen are usually those which are used to prepare vegetables and flavourings. There may also be a greater variety of pastry cutting and rolling equipment.

In recent times, many French kitchens have been adorned with small and neat gadgets such as mini grills and ice cream makers although this is on an individual scale and not generally applied to restaurants and traditional kitchens.

On the whole, French cooking is rustic and traditional and French kitchenware is made to match. This may be set to change with the modern need for convenience but the emphasis on good cooking remains.
